Grove Springs Cultural District Art Festival
The second Art Festival sponsored by the Grove Springs Cultural District is set for October 20, 2018, 10:00 - 2:00, at the Grove Community Center, 104 E 3rd Street. Visual artists from the Grand Lake area are encouraged to set up booths inside the Community Center, Rooms 6 & 7, or in downtown participating businesses. Booths in the Community Center are available for only $25 per 8' x 10' booth.
Visual Artists will find entry forms available on the Grove Springs Cultural District Facebook page, and in Grove at: Brush & Palette Club, 18 W. 4th St, Wed. through Saturday, 10-4; Heart & Soul Gallery, 5 E 3rd, 11-3 (mail slot for after hours); Redemption Implements, 27 W. 3rd, Tues-Sat, 10 -5, Weds, 12-5:00; Gallery Southwest, Mon-Sat, 10:00-5:30; Grove Public Library, 1140 NEO Loop, MWF, 8:30-5:00; TT, 8:30 -9:00; Sat 8:30-12:00.
Businesses in the cultural district, essentially Grove's downtown area, who wish to sponsor an artist in or in front of their business during the festival should contact Suzanne Boles, 918 786 5871, for inclusion in future promotions. Businesses outside the designated district are encouraged to find ways to support the arts that day as well.
A special program on the ever growing popularity of Barn Quilts will be presented at 1:00. The creation of barn quilts is one of this year's cultural district's projects. Recia Garcia & Lynda Latta, OSU Extension Educators, are coming from Woodward & Gage to introduce us to the importance of barn quilts and inspire us to celebrate our community's heritage through their creation. The program is part of the Art Festival and will begin at 1 p.m. in Room 4 of the Community Center.
Organizations that make up the coordinating council of the cultural district include: The Playmakers, Brush & Palette Club, Lendonwood Gardens, Grove Public Library, Grove Public Schools, Grove Chamber of Commerce, Heart & Soul Gallery, Jana Jae Festivals and Gallery Southwest, and Har-ber Village. All events are held with assistance of the Oklahoma Arts Council as well as local support.
