Grand Lake Fishing Report for November 14, 2016

Thanksgiving is around the corner and deer season is in full swing as the mild weather continues. Let's not forget it's a great time to be on the water as Grand Lake fishing has heated up this past week with the cooler morning temperatures.

Grand Lake water elevation is 741.96 with water temperatures dropping 4 to 5 degrees this past week. Water temperatures have been steady around 70 degrees but with colder nights we have seen water temperatures around 65 degrees.
Water has been slow to clear up as it has been lightly stained down lake with stained to muddy up lake. The water should start to clear as rivers that feed Grand Lake are slow to clear.

Spoonbill fishing has started off with a bang this fall as we have boated over 70 fish this fall with the biggest hitting the scales at 70 pounds. Target mid-lake to sailboat in water depths of 30-50ft. They are moving around a lot daily but this should slow as the water temperatures drop.

Catfishing has been a bit slow as the bait is plentiful and scattered from warm water temperatures and wind changes. Past few days we have noticed the catfish moving into 25ft of water as the shad slowly start to fill the river channels up the Neosho River. Fishing should improve daily. We have just started to see large schools of shad busting by feeding catfish.

Whitebass are biting in full force as you can catch them on windy shallow points. Lots of reports coming in with large numbers of fish with great sizes. The 2 1/2" lemon pie go-go minnow is a great attack to use, they can't let it just swim by.
Target mid-lake to the upper rivers and creeks.

Crappie fishing has been good to fair around docks and brush piles. Good reports from Horse Creek to Honey Creek in 10-20 ft of water. Get ready for another great winter of crappie fishing on Grand Lake with good numbers of fish and all sizes being caught. Remember the 10" length limit on all crappie.

Get out and see what Grand Lake offers this time of year as the fish are biting and the lake is beautiful with the trees changing colors and pelicans covering the water.
