Take Down Your Fiddle And Bow

Grand Lake Festivals, Inc. presents the 2021 Jana Jae Fiddle Camp September 3, 4 & 5, with evening events at Snider’s Camp, located 1 mile South and ½ mile East of Honey Creek Bridge in Grove, OK. There will also be daytime workshops at the Grove Civic Center, 18th & Main, Grove OK. Coaches, groups, and participants will play on stage throughout the weekend, and spectators are welcome to enjoy this event, free to the public.

All ages, all levels, and all string instruments are welcome to participate. Registration online is available at www.grandlakefestivals.com with reduced early bird rates until August 15. Outstanding musicians and instructors will coach participants, grouped by age, level of ability, and interest, in playing the fiddle, violin, guitar, mandolin and other string and rhythm instruments, including ukulele – new this year! This is a fun-filled weekend of learning, enjoying great entertainment and jamming with friends.

Beginning Friday evening September 3, at 6:30 p.m., the public is invited to the Lakeside Kick-Off Party and BBQ Dinner at Snider’s Camp, catered by Dr. John’s BBQ. Great entertainment includes the popular Prairie Breeze String Band, Jana Jae & Friends, Barry “Bones” Patton, Festival Fiddlers and more. The event will return to Snider’s Camp on Saturday evening for a delicious fish fry and entertainment, including a fun Amateur Fiddle Contest. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the delicious dinner & entertainment, free to the public (food $10 plate). All day Saturday and Sunday at the Civic Center, workshops and stage performances continue. The noon meal will again be provided by Dr. John’s BBQ ($8 a plate). Sunday morning at 9 a.m, Bob Fjeldsted of the Round Up Boys Swing Band will lead the musicians in a gospel jam at the Civic Center. The public is invited to sing along or just enjoy some good gospel music. An added attraction at noon on Sunday will be the opportunity for the public to see what the participants have been working on as they entertain around the lunch tables.

The Jana Jae Fiddle Camp is not just for fiddlers! Fiddle, violin, viola, cello, mandolin, guitar, bass, ukulele and other string and rhythm instruments are included, and the workshop is open to participants regardless of age or prior experience. Jim Garling, Jack Boydstun, and Jim Christian will teach guitar the entire weekend.
