PLAYMAKERS' LEGACY AWARDS SLATED.
The Playmakers will honor those who have given their gifts of talent, skill and time since the early days of Playmakers' productions and events. Legacy Awards 2022 will be presented on February 4th in the West Wing of the First United Methodist Church, 1005 Leisure Road in Grove, OK.
Dinner, catered by Timbered- In Catering, begins at 6:30 pm. A program of awards for service to The Playmakers and our community will be combined with entertainment provided by special guest, Elizabeth Montgomery.
Reservations' deadline is January 27th and may be made by calling (918) 786 8950 or by emailing [email protected] Either way, a volunteer will contact you to confirm the reservation. The charge is $80/ person; tables may be reserved at the same price per person. The Playmakers will accept major credit cards if convenient.
The Legacy Awards began in 2018 and take place every other year as a way to let theatre-goers be introduced to the committed volunteers who work behind the scenes and in many cases also appear on stage. Two "Legacy Award" winners are chosen and two other people receive awards from the "Artistic Executive". This year there are four people receiving "Volunteer of the Year" awards. A business or corporation which has supported the Playmakers for many years has been chosen for a special award.
Singer, Elizabeth Montgomery who was raised in Vinita, will share her legacy to our area by weaving some of the musical standards of the '40s, familiar to many, into the award presentations. The first Ron Young Scholarship Award went to then Grove HS senior, Hayley Dozier, in 2018. She is now graduating from the American Music and Dramatic Academy College of the Performing Arts in Los Angeles. She will give guests a bit of her experience via a short video at the Awards.
