"SAVANNAH SIPPING SOCIETY" SET TO OPEN

The Playmakers' summer laugh-out-loud comedy, "Savannah Sipping Society" opens Sunday, July 20, followed by seven more performance through August 3. The story is about four women who don't know each other, yet are drawn together by Fate; they are played by Susan Bass, Kate Cearley, Pam Leptich and Susan Lundy. They are directed by Ashley Davidson.
The play is written by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten, collectively known as Jones Hope Wooten, who enjoy the reputation of being three of the most popular and widely-produced playwrights in the United States. They specialize in writing laugh-out-loud comedies and creating vivid strong roles for women. Because of their commitment to and support of local theatres across the nation, they've built a following with legions of loyal fans and have been dubbed "America's Playwrights." Jamie Wooten was a writer and producer for many seasons of the classic television series The Golden Girls,
"After two summers of the very popular "Nunsense" musicals, yet facing another summer with the need for audience members to get out of the heat and escape the world news cycle," said Ms. Davidson, "we knew we had to find another play that would give audiences a show that sparkles with "life, laughter, and a twist of lemon."
It all takes place on the Savannah verandah of Randa, (Susan Bass) who meets Marlafaye, (Pam Leptich) and, Dot, (Kate Cearley), after a class of "hot yoga". They decide to meet at Randa's home, where, at the invitation of Dot, a fourth person, Jinx, joins them, (Susan Lundy). The drinks and the confessions of the dissatisfactions in their lives lead to laughter, more liquid refreshments, misadventures, and the help of a life-coach. They come to realize that it's "never too late to make new old friends."
Performance dates & times are: Sundays, July 20, 27 & Aug 3; Thursdays, July 24 & 31; Fridays, July 25 & Aug 1; and one Tuesday, July 29. Sunday performances are at 2:00 pm. All other shows are weeknights at 7:30 pm.
The Playmakers have no paper tickets. For seat reservations, just leave a message at 918 786-8950 or at [email protected] with your name, a contact phone number, and the number of people for the preferred performance date. A volunteer will contact you to confirm and answer any questions you may have. Prices are: Adults-$15.00; Students in age group below: $8.00. There is also a Pay What You Can option on the Tuesday, July 29th performance. Ask about it in the message you leave on our phone or through our email.
The minimum age guideline for this production is high school. It is based on the appropriateness of the play for that age level and the capability of the student to understand the content of the production. Since this is a strong guideline,
