The Playmakers are creating a musical comedy treat that will help audiences escape the heat and other hot topics this summer. The original "Nunsense" was first produced by the Playmakers in 2000 and is being revived for our community that loves to come together for sheer entertainment and lots of laughs. Who doesn't need that right now? If you saw the original production and want to bring back the memories, or if you missed that production (or weren't born then!) and want see why everyone wants to see the five Little Sisters of Hoboken again, you are in for a lot of sass, a lot of laughs, and a lot of witty lyrics
The show opens at The Playmakers, 121 W 3rd in Grove, on Friday, July 15th and will continue on July 17, 21, 22, 24, 29, 30 31. Opening night is on its way to being sold out already, so get your reservations soon for that show or any others by leaving a message with The Playmakers at (918) 786-8950 or emailing [email protected]. The minimum age is Upper Elementary students due to the context of the production. A volunteer will confirm your reservation and answer any questions within 24 hours or less.
The cast includes two of the original "sisters", Vicki King as Sister Amnesia and Kjersti King, the ballerina Sister Leo. Both have been in all six Nunsense productions performed over the years by The Playmakers. Pam Leptich is again the street-smart Nun, Sister Robert Ann, that she first performed in "Nunsensations" in 2009. Tonya Rudick will again take the role of Sister Hubert that she performed in "Nunset Boulevard" in 2014". A new Mother Superior, Nancy Flowers has joined the convent, though sometimes she'd rather join the circus! Joan Engel Ball, last seen in "Baskerville" in 2018m has taken over the direction of these very talented comic actors. And, newcomer to The Playmakers, Jeanne Smith, high school teacher and pianist, will debut as the accompanist for this production. Josh Wilhelm is once again creating the percussion.
In the show a fundraiser is being put on by the Little Sisters of Hoboken to raise money to bury sisters accidently poisoned by the convent cook, Sister Julia (Child of God). It takes place in a school which is producing the musical "Grease". No pun intended.
Adult reservation are $15 per person; Students, upper elementary through high school, are $8/ per student. Group rates are available as are Pay What You Can reservations.
